A beautiful illustration of the Molyneux Coat of Arms is featured in this site showing the cross moline and the crest, a cap with peacock‘s feather. Family motto vincere sat vincere = “To live is to conquer enough.” The rectangular cross piece of a mill wheel, giving the origin of the name. In 1066 the Moulineaux came from Rouen in Normandy and were supporters of William the Conqueror. They supplied flour to his army and the name is derived from them being millers hence Moulin = a wheel and eaux = of the waters. A detailed family tree from 1612 gives names and Will details of some ancestors. Details of Molyneux of Aintree, Sefton, Kirkby and Kirkdale, also includes the families of Harrison, Foster, Moss and Ray. Church records for various dates include St. Helens, Sefton; St. Mary’s Walton-on-the-Hill, Liverpool; St. James Toxteth, Liverpool; St. Chad’s Kirkby; St. Cuthbert Halsall; and St.Thomas-the Martyr-UpHolland; all in Lancashire. It's All About Our Family

Is member US297 Christina Mollineaux Witcher's website and families. Information on the descendants of James Mollineaux Sr., born 15 April 1811 in England, and Esther A. Lang, born 13 May 1812 in England. Site includes historical pictures, documents and a detailed descendant report for James and Esther.

There is also a wonderful story, "Our Mollineaux Ancestors" by Buddy Beck. Twenty-five page history written by a son of Lelia Mae Mollineaux (1902-1988). I hesitate to give away the ending, but I really enjoyed the last few lines:

"Unless I decide to write more, this is THE END!

"You never know, I have told the undertaker not to close the lid on me until they are blamed sure that I am dead because I might have something else to say."
