First, let me extend a sincere “thank you” to Marie for her 17 years of service as IMFA's president. I'm sure Wes would be very proud of the job that she and the many other volunteers have done to continue and grow IMFA. It will be a challenge to follow in their footsteps. Congratulations also to our editor, Betty Molyneux Brown. This issue marks 26 years of continuous publication of our newsletter, MxWorld. Betty does an outstanding job creating each newsletter from all of the stories contributed by our members. Keep them coming!
Our DNA Surname project continues to thrive with over 60 participants. US312 Steve Mullinax continues to rank the test results and group participants based on the closeness of their DNA. US332 Wayne Straight has pulled together all of the lineage information supplied by individual members and grouped them into a number of Mx Lines. Where possible, each member has been assigned to one of these lines. Combining the DNA results with the paper trails allows us to confirm or deny assumptions about the inter-relationships. If you haven't visited our website recently then please do and check out the latest findings.
Want to expand your understanding about how DNA fits into the Genealogy puzzle? US339 Wendy Mullinax Arnim is putting together a 3-day Mx Genealogy Conference, August 17-19 in Waynesboro, Virginia. Email Wendy at workshop@mx-world.org for complete details.
Social Networks, such as Facebook, are extremely popular and have not been overlooked by genealogists. Congratulations to UK006 Clive Molyneux for his work moderating several sites for Mx genealogists.
For now, enjoy the coming of summer and the take advantage of the opportunity to interact with family, filling in those missing holes in your own family story. And, if you haven't yet submitted your Mx lineage information please do so. Every bit we receive will help us in our effort to combine DNA and traditional research in mapping the Mx migration.
